I’ve been lucky enough to take more than a few flights in my lifetime, and I’ve found that having a few key items on hand can make a world of difference in how you feel when you land. Here’s what’s in my bag tonight as I head to New York for New York Fashion Week!
I realized the other day that I haven’t had much of a chance to spend time in New York, aside from a few blink-and-you’ll-miss-it weekends. I’m so excited to explore the city and catch up with friends between events!
Here’s what will be in my bag for today’s flight —
My 8 In-Flight Essentials
Noise-canceling earbuds
Instead of earplugs, I wear noise-reducing earbuds during flights. They still reduce external sound, and I like that I can listen to podcasts while I’m falling asleep (my favorites are The Moth, The Tim Ferris Show, and Invisibilia). While there are definitely more expensive versions out there, I find that inexpensive buds like these ones work are enough for me.
A sweet (but healthy) snack
I’m much less tempted by unhealthy airplane food when I know I have something sweet packed – like this fresh summer peach. For more ideas, check out my post on The 7 Best Airplane Snacks (That Aren’t Granola Bars).
Mèreadesso Travel Ease Kit
While I love my at-home skincare routine, it’s not realistic to pack twelve different products when I’m traveling. Luckily, Mèreadesso created this awesomely convenient travel kit (c/o) to solve that exact problem. The pack has an refreshing cleanser and an All-In-One moisturizer (that actually manages to be all of my other products in one), wrapped up with a cleansing cloth in a convenient travel pack. It contains two weeks worth of product in TSA-approved resealable packs, so you’ll be covered all vacation long.
I’m giving away a Mèreadesso Travel Ease Kit to one reader – see below for details!
Calming caffeine-free tea
I love having hot tea on flights, but prefer to bring my own and just ask for hot water when the beverage cart comes around. Yogi Tea is my favorite – Ginger Tea soothes an upset stomach, while their Echinacea Immune Support tea gives your immune system a defensive boost against recycled airplane air.
Etude House Eye Packs
My eyes get super dry and puffy on flights, so I rely on these collagen eye packs to soothe and moisturize.
Magazines
My favorite time to catch up on magazines is when I’m traveling! It seems only fitting to have Vogue’s September issue as my in-flight mag of choice for this trip.
DIY travel minis
It drives me nuts to buy overpriced travel minis of my favorite products, so I prefer to pack my own in inexpensive plastic containers. I have my go-to overnight mask packed in these pill jars, but these Nalgene ones are also a great option.
Laneige Water Sleeping Pack/Mask
I’ve mentioned this pack before, and it’s still one of my favorites. I slather my Laneige Water Sleeping Pack on during every flight and it’s an absolute lifesaver.
